Swiss Alp Watch Concept Black

The Swiss Alp Watch Concept Black 5901-0301 won SIHH 2019. It’s no secret I have a special place in my heart for H. Moser & Cie., so I have no trouble declaring it the most exciting piece of the show. I’m sure this minimalist phantasm will be keeping some in the Swiss watch industry up at night thinking how they can one-up themselves for next year. Let’s look deeper:

From Ed Meylan’s Instagram feed (CEO, H. Moser & Cie.)
  • No hands
  • Platinum Swiss Alp case
  • Glossy Black dial
  • Tourbillon
  • Minute repeater
  • Sapphire case back
The detail of the repeater button!

Straight on, you can’t tell what time it is. Genius!

How the hell do you set it?

I really love this watch. The lack of hands is the horological equivalent of shooting yourself in the foot. But then the true luxury of the minute repeater complication brings up the rear and demands the person merely in its presence give it respect. How often have you ever seen someone trigger the chimes to tell the time? Me neither. Are there more things you can do with $300k?  Sure.   If you consider that fact this watch isn’t for you.

It’s a $300,000 piece unique so… it’s probably already sold, HOWEVER, I’m sure Moser would make you one if you wanted to customize it a bit to add more mind-boggling variety to their portfolio.

Here’s a bonus clip from Watchmania showing off the repeater function.
