Shinola’s New Petoskey Stone Dial Watch Collection
I’ll admit it, I’m not a huge fan of Shinola. But this dial is madness. At 37mm, it works well with the patterns in the watches shown. The gold PVD looks great with the subdued yellows and browns in the stone. It’s certainly not for me, but using locally-found fossilized rock to make dials to a very local-centric brand? That’s cool. Maybe there’s some exotic breed of cow they can source the strap leather from? Kidding, not kidding.The Petoskey stone is a unique fossilized rock found exclusively along the shores of Lake Michigan. I’m not a fan. Car company/watch crossovers are mostly crap. I’m not a fan of this watch. it’s not for me, but let’s discuss. The deadbeat seconds is a cool “complication” I’ll admit- but no thanks. I like seeing the engine cover make an appearance on dial side. The yellow works well with the jewels. I like Lamborghini, in fact, I still have to snap a picture whenever I see one. While I am taking that picture which will languish on my phone until I upgrade it and dump the pics onto an external hard drive which will sit on a shelf for eternity, I ponder what it must…

I lived in Boston for a handful of years when Tom Brady was winning Super Bowls. Tag Heuer currenty has Brady, quarterback for the New England Patriots, as a Brand ambassador. I like the Patriots. I like Boston. I like Tom Brady. I loath this watch. Here’s the newest Brady themed LE Uh-huh. Thanks. It feels like a fat bloated saloon car that no on really wants, but buys out on necessity. Listen, I liked Bamford Rolexes. And even some of their Patek work. Originally I was made aware of them in a blog post about their Popeye collaborations. Years ago. I still want one of those and certain models of their Snoopy collaborations While I think the blackout look will be insanely dated in about 5…4…3…2…1…..
