Am I happy Space Travel is still a thing? Am I happy that Elon Musk will be leaving this planet? I don’t know the answers here, but him saying that in an interview in late November has my interest piqued. I’ll start saving for a simple trip to space. #9…

Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz wears a Paul Newman Daytona on CBS This Morning.
Not much to see here other than espresso and style-icon Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz is wearing his Rolex Paul Newman Daytona 6239 (?- Comment if you know.) on CBS This Morning. Also, he said he was stepping down and acted like he wasn’t going to run for President. His watch game is much stronger than the current President’s. No one can argue with that point. Full Interview here.

Another day, another Celebrity watch from Phillips/Bacs & Russo
I don’t know where Bacs & Russo keep digging up these gems, but they are truly the best in the business at the moment. The Paul Newman Paul Newman Daytona, the White Gold 6265 Daytona and now this Steve McQueen Submariner 5513. Currently owned by former stuntman Loren Janes’ family, McQueen gifted the watch to him after years of him serving as his stuntman in…wait for it…19 films. Janes’ home burned down in 2016 but they dug this watch out of the rubble. The story made its way to Rolex and they took care of restoring it. All of this is clearly documented by Rolex and seems on the up and…

Phillips to Auction Elvis Presley’s watch
Caught in a Trap I visited Elvis’ Memphis home Graceland in the Summer of 1995. On that trip I was driving from Florida up to Tennessee for some natural wonders sightseeing and more importantly… the completely unnatural hot mess that Elvis lived in. I say that lovingly. I was so blown away my the house and the whole industry that surrounded Elvis Presley Enterprises in the immediate area. I’m not sure it exists elsewhere. I even visited again with my wife about 5 years ago. I’ll take my kids when they are old enough to appreciate schlock and kitsch and Elvis in general. Maybe the will find a trove of…

H. Moser & Cie.’s Swiss Icons Watch Controversy
Some people just can’t take a joke. Yesterday H. Moser posted this year’s installment of their novelty watch they create for SIHH now yearly. It references (no pun intended) a few other major watch companies’ trademark features: Rolex Pepsi bezel colors Patek Philippe garage door dial + logo Girard Perregaux tourbillion bridge Voutilainen hands Audemars Piguet bezel shape Hublot Case Panerai type and crown guard Today Moser posts this on their Instagram: In case you were wondering what happened to the Swiss Icons Watch… A post shared by H. Moser & Cie. (@moserwatches) on Jan 12, 2018 at 4:18am PS This is truly sad. These huge companies clearly have…

Mark Wahlberg and watches
Mark Wahlberg has every Rolex watch you could ever want. He wears them, too. Daytona, Sky-Dweller, Day-Date you name it. The star of Boogie Nights and Three Kings has an affinity for the brand and watches in general. While wasting time online, as one does, I came across this video featuring Mark Wahlberg decoding bits of Boston slang for Vanity Fair. Having previously lived in Boston, I was intrigued. What’s that? One of the crazy Rolex Daytonas with the perfectly selected rainbow colored sapphires on the bezel. A search on Chrono24 shows pricing at around $180K for this gold reference. Other references in steel and white gold are priced…

Top Ten things of 2017
We here at Fake Alligator put together a list of the top 10 things in 2017. Trying to steer clear of watches and cars (for the most part) we wanted to showcase the biggest and most exciting things of the year. So without further ado: 10: Damien Hirst’s Venice show: Treasures From the Wreck of the Unbelievable 189 pieces in bronze, marble, malachite, rock crystal, silver and gold. The work took 10 years to produce at a cost of over $65million USD, that’s a few Paul Newman Daytonas. Love him or hate him, this show was the only thing I remember from Venice this year. 9: That fight scene in…

Paul Newman’s Paul Newman Daytona featured on The Walking Dead
AMC’s The Walking Dead featured the most valuable watch ever sold. I, like everyone else, was watching AMC’s golden-child franchise series The Walking Dead last night. It was the season 7 half-season finale. In between tweeting about Bitcoin futures and complaining in general, which, let’s be honest, is the real purpose of the internet, I noticed something interesting. Rick is wearing a Rolex. Upon first inspection I just noticed it was a Rolex Daytona, their mainstay chronograph first produced in 1963. I initially thought it was one of the lesser, modern models, such as 116500LN and 116520. I know what you’re thinking, big deal. It isn’t, I agree. I’ve lost…
